What Types of Airports Can a Typical Airplane Charter Access?

Airplane Charter Access

The list of airports available to a typical airplane charter sometimes appears confusing because the number of facilities is extensive. Airports around the world – all of which have unique identification codes – are available for private jets to access.

Airports are typically categorized as

  • Large hubs
  • Medium hubs
  • Small hubs
  • Non-hubs
  • General aviation
  • Cargo service
  • Reliever (the Federal Aviation Administration designates these to relieve congestion at commercial airports)
Your private plane – prop, turbo-prop, or jet – is typically welcome at most of these airport types. The possible exception may by those coded as cargo service only, which theoretically prohibit private aircraft carrying human passengers. One of the prime benefits of air charter travel is the ability of private flights to access smaller, less congested airports closer to your destination.
